MINDS AT WORK!

New homework math assignments have been created in Khan Academy!  Please access homework assignments using student user name and password information.

Math:  We kick off our new 3rd quarter math standards with measuring time.  Using Maya’ Angelou’s poem, WOMAN WORK, as the back drop for our measuring time project, students will be focusing on telling time as well as using a time schedule to organize tasks.

Writers Workshop:  We also kick off our study of the events leading up to the American Revolution as well as looking the components of opinion writing  and how the opinions of the patriots caused them to launch the revolution.  This week’s Time For Kids also support our look at opinion writing.

Word Study:  students will receive new word list and will work on activities in their word study notebook.

Science:  This week we begin our quarter focus on the properties and attributes of matter

Social Studies:  In conjunction with our opinion writing goals, students will begin to discuss the conflict that lead to the revolutionary war and the creation of our new government.  This week we look at the geography of Europe and the thirteen colonies to set the stage for our study.  We also begin our celebration of Louis Braille and Martin L. King this week.

Literature Study:  This week we jump into our 3rd quarter lit study, HARLEM CHARADES.

Enjoy your week!
